Guest Post [Why You Shouldn’t Wear A Bra… Science Says So by Dherbs.com]

Why do women wear bras? Some might argue that social norms or pressures demand that women wear bras to be perceived as presentable, dignified, and regular. All women know that they can wear what they want. In fact, some women feel empowered when they release the straps and hooks to free their breasts. There is even scientific evidence that says wearing a bra could actually decrease healthy breast development.

Some women think that the bra was an amazing invention, while others think it is a torture device thought up from the evils of an unspeakable place of hatred. A sports scientist named Jean-Denis Rouillon, who researches at the University of Franche-Comte, conducted a 15-year study on the effects of bras. The study consisted of 330 women, all aged 18-35.

The study revealed that wearing a bra from an early age did not prevent back pain, support the chest, or prevent the breasts from sagging. Women who voluntarily stopped wearing bras during the study actually had a 7-millimeter lift in their nipples compared to the bra users. Basically, breasts don’t benefit from being denied gravity.

Bras can actually decrease circulation to the breasts, which may reduce natural growth and breast tissue development. Young women who don’t wear bras can develop healthier breast tissue and tone. Both of these things help lift a developing breast. Women could possibly have a natural breast lift if they didn’t wear bras from such an early age.

Women should also avoid wearing bras when they go to sleep. The decreased circulation to the breasts can induce itching, irritation, and impaired sleep. Some women may even experience skin depigmentation or black spots.

Whether you wear a bra or not is entirely up to you. These are preliminary studies and more research needs to be done to have succinct, conclusive evidence about the advantages of not wearing a bra. So far, however, the results seem to be heading in a positive direction.
